Despacito is a 2017 song made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track in the world within 6 months. In 2017, the single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton and pop, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also increased interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four tracks in 2016. At the height of popularity for Despacito the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see it will have 41 hits within this genre. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) famous artists began to collaborate with reggaeton artists, including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma on Medellin (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of the genre toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to maintain the development. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted practice.
